Freedom of Assembly?

Hi big fan. "Freedom of speech" is always brought up and discussed when talking about the protests but what about "freedom to assemble". I never hear anyone bring that up in debate. We have a fundamental right to gather peacefully, right? Is there a reason this right isn't discussed more? Thanks for all your hard work! 🍉🍉✌🏼

"Pro-Palestian" or "Anti-war" & "Peace"

from Bart Popowski (Puh-POW-ski). primarily for Krystal Hey guys, I'm wondering about using the term 'Pro-Palestinian' to desribe the campus activists. During the Vietnam War, we were 'Anti-war' activists, who led 'Peace' demonstrations. No one described us as 'Pro-Vietnamese.' We were people who saw ourselves as leftists, far leftists, liberals, pacifists, yippies, etc. Some genuinely admired Ho Chi Minh, some just didn't believe in war. I assume todays college activists are similarly diverse, and given how the legacy media has maligned the term 'Palestinian,' I genuinely wonder if 'Pro-Palestinian' is the best choice of words. Perhaps 'Pro-Ceasefire'? I'd love to hear your thoughts, and truly admire your work. Proud to be Premium. (put that on a cup)

Did the right miss a huge opportunity with the protests?

First, I love you both. I feel like it would have been a great idea for the right to come out in solidarity for these protests going on. Taking this one position could have legitimized their position as the free speech side AND pinned these crimes against humanity on Joe Biden. Did they miss a big opportunity here or do I not understand how politics works?

I am out!!…not canceling my subscription though!!..

I hope this won’t come across incorrectly. I admire you both and I will add Ryan and Emily and all the content producers you showcase at BP. I am also amazed on how you have built value in a business that is rotten, such as many other aspects in the current human passage (sorry, I started with my pessimistic rant already). I think yours and many other’s message are reaching a lot of people so I wonder if there’s a movement building up in the background to do something about all this BS?. OR if these incredible efforts of making us all aware of what is happening in the shadows (and not so much), is just a way to get to know what the whole world’s leaders are capable of, how humanity have decomposed only to serve and fulfill its primal urges and how all aspects of the current civilization are only serving a few, while US, the vast majority, are only spectators. I guess my question is, do you think it worth it ?…I mean …to know and make us all know all these atrocities happening all over?…I am finding very difficult to hear the reality everyday so I will stop hearing you at least on daily basis. I would never retire my support to BP (subscription) with the hope that there is something else after all these nonsense we are living. This last “anti-semitism” law passed by that kind of majority in the house is just enough for me. I am may be gone for good from all news and anything related to politics and economics and the way the world is decomposing…But who knows…I have a teenager daughter that is very opinionated…just like me, in all these matters, so I imagine that, if she decides to join any college movement like Columbia’s I will be right beside her.

Trump’s recent abortion flailing

Saagar - recommend you take a look at Trump’s speech in MI this week, particularly the piece where he addresses abortion. His take is so defensive and so meandering - makes it 100% clear that he knows how vulnerable he is on this issue. We have the wind to thank for this gem because - due to the high winds that afternoon (which would have knocked Biden down, per Trump) - the teleprompters were rendered useless - or at least inoperable for a time. Which leads into a minutes long diatribe from Trump, scolding Republicans for asking how many months or weeks should be included in an abortion ban. Trump says that the issue has always been an issue of federalism and that the 50-year goal has always been to return the decision to the states - followed by a defensive and circling boomer rant of the “look-at-what-I’ve-done-for-you-ungrateful-children” vibe. Props for staking out a position and pushing his people to try to rally around it. But stick to the script. And when the teleprompters fail, move to high ground! Quite a revealing moment and potentially worth a mention when discussing polls around this issue!
