My life and fortune for CP Fridays!

I was intrigued when Emily mentioned that she holds the minority of the minority position on abortion. For each of you, what would you say is your most controversial or least popular position?

Restoring diplomatic relations with Iran

Do you think it would be in the US’s interest to try to restore diplomatic relations with Iran following Israel’s strike on their embassy in Damascus? It could send both a message of deescalation to Iran and US disapproval to Israel. I’m no expert on the topic but would love to hear your thoughts!

Fourteen week abortion ban in Europe?

I have been hearing this talking point a lot recently. Is it really true that most countries in Europe have a total abortion ban after 14 weeks? This just doesn't sounds correct. Also, why is this such a common talking point?

$20/hr Minimum Wage

I think there was a big hole in your assessment of CA’s selective $20/hr minimum wage. Krystal at one point asked if Saagar ever worked fast food. I don’t think he had the chance to respond but I’d almost guarantee if either of you worked fast food it would have been when you were a teen or summer work during college. Not every job needs to be able to support a family. Everyone in my family worked at one point in fast food and in every instance it was during high school or college to help pay for some or many of our own expenses. I don’t think I would have been hired by any of the companies I worked for from the age of 14 until college graduation if my employer was required to pay me a “living wage”. Fast food work is almost a rite of passage for teenagers to learn commitment and the value of a hard earned dollar. It did that for me when I was as a teen in the 80’s just as it was for my child just a few years ago. It’s ok to have jobs for teens or for those looking to supplement a family income. Keep doing what You are doing. I rarely find that you miss a critical part of an issue or story which is a large part of why I love the show. -Mike in Southern Maryland

What is Emily's "Pro-Israel" position.

Hi guys. Love both shows. Been a premium sub since the first year. And very much looking forward to an extra dose of Ryan and Emily each week. Emily, you have referenced a number of times that you have a more pro-Israel position, but never really seem to clarify what that is or make a case to support it. In an early segment about Katie Halper you mentioned disagreeing that Israel is an apartheid. And during recent coverage you have alluded to having a more pro-Israel view. I am genuinely curious what the honest, non-Hasbara case is. Specifically: With the two-state solution dead and occupation indefinite there are two people living side by side, one with rights and one without. How, definitionally, is that anything other than apartheid? AND The goal of Zionism is a Jewish homeland in historic Palestine. But creating a Jewish political majority in historic Palestine has only ever been possible by taking the land but not its people as equal voting citizens. How can one take land without the people living on it except through apartheid, ethnic cleansing, or genocide? What other course could such a project even possibly take to achieve those goals?
