Free Speech

There has been an uptick in public and private universities adopting speech guidelines affecting the ability for pro-Palestine protests to occur during university events, most notably as fallout of the protest that disrupted the University of Michigan honors convocation. Where do you see the line between exercising your right to protest and someone’s opportunity to celebrate a great achievement? What are the implications on free speech if universities are publishing policies like the one at the University of Michigan?

Save The Date!!

Krystal/Saagar - the two of you have dramatically changed my outlook and way of life. Before I found Breaking Points (premium member!) I found myself being so one sided and rarely open to other POVs. It's truly amazing the work you both are doing. I went to your live show in NYC in December 2022 as a gift from my fiancé which was one of the best gifts I've ever gotten. I was also fortunate to get a photo with the both of you which was the second photo I've gotten with Saagar because I ran into him in Philadelphia at Xfinity Live before his Dua Lipa concert! Although we do not know one another on a personal level I would be regretful to not invite the both of you (and your significant others) to my wedding on 9/27/24 in Philadelphia. Would you ever consider such an invite? I can't express the impact you both have had on me. I am truly just thankful I can listen to you on a weekly basis and know that I can always count on Breaking Points. Please consider!!

Bernie Sanders/32 Hour Week

Everyone is applauding Bernie for his proposed 32-hour work week before overtime kicks in. I see a big negative here. Folks that are barely making it on 40 hours per week now, would just have companies cutting hours to 32 hours requiring additional second jobs at lower wages. Instead of a $15/hour worker going from $600/week to $660/week, I see that employee going from $600/week to $480 a week. Your thoughts?

First 2024 Halloween Costume Submission

Israel/Gaza War Focus - Honest, Sincere Question

Hey Krystal and Saagar, long time fan, all the way back to your Rising days. Happy to be a premium subscriber of BP. I genuinely respect both of your opinions and appreciate your nuanced takes. I also appreciate you standing up for believing what you believe is right. My AMA question is about the Israel/Gaza coverage. However, I'm not here to complain on either side of the Israel/Gaza war. However, as time goes on, I wonder how you all choose to cover this war versus other more domestic topics. As a viewer, it seems that about 50% of every show since the war began has been about Israel. I have seen that for the most part, you have moved the coverage to the latter half of the show. Unless there's more breaking/urgent news that's worth leading the show with. For example, today is April 2nd, and 3 of the 9 stories (I'm using the chapter markers for reference) are Israel/Gaza focused. And we are 6 months into this war. I understand this war has turned into a human rights and genocidal issue - however, for the US is it not inherently a foreign policy matter? And if so, does it warrant such extensive coverage? I empathize with the tragedy that it is. And pray that it ends immediately. But as an American, frankly, there are more topics relevant to me and other Americans that I think are worth covering (in addition to some coverage of this war given the US's involvement.) Again, not here to complain, but to hear your perspective on why you have chosen to continue covering this topic so exhaustively, to the extent that it is typically ~50% of nearly every show. Thank you, and FWIW, I have zero plans to unsubscribe! Pat Bergstresser
