Do you think that the current war mentality exhibited in the mainstream press is an attempt by them to return to the 'heady days' of the Cold War when a frightened public flocked to cable news and news stands to get the latest information on tensions between the U.S. and its adversaries?
Broken campaign promises
I was wondering if there were any laws surrounding political “campaign promises”? If a politician makes promises or proclamations surrounding certain issues or beliefs that result in them getting elected, is there any legal precedent set out that they have to follow in terms of their campaigning? Has a politician ever been directly penalized for not following through/doing the opposite of what they said they were going to do or for misleading the public in order to get elected??
Saagar laughing at the Ukraine not wanting Nuclear power.
I was a little peeved at Saager making fun of the Ukraine for not wanting Nuclear power as a replacement for big oil. If I lived in the Ukraine I would be against Nuclear power, because of "Oh..I...dunno....CHERNOBYL. Same with Japan. I have to admit that nuclear seems like the only workable answer....BUT, You can rebuild from a tornado, you can rebuild from a wildfire, you can build on higher ground.....A nuclear disaster...is....forever.....
So if a recession is coming, what exactly are we supposed to do? Move to Austin?
I can't sell my house, we live in it, what stocks/bonds./retirement strategy should we have to minimize the harm a recession will do to us? Amazon will survive, should I invest in that? Clear tips would be helpful. Its not like Im a hedge fund manager, just a dual income household with 2 kids about to go to college.
